Acceptable Use Policy
Muskoka CAP is a project of Muskoka Community Co-op (MCC). Muskoka CAP sites are designed to allow all individuals equal access to the Internet, computer equipment and training. The following policies and guidelines have been developed to ensure fair and equitable use of the site equipment. The intent of this policy is to clarify, by example, the guidelines which apply to determining whether a given use is acceptable. The following guidelines are not intended to be exhaustive. MCC staff and volunteers reserve the right to monitor any patron’s use of the Internet, computer software and equipment. MCC staff and volunteers reserve the right to remove, for an unspecified amount of time, any patron who fails to comply with the terms as listed below.
- Any use that relates to the exchange of information for the purposes of personal education and research.
Uses and behaviour that fall under one of the following descriptions are, in general, unacceptable:
-
Activities or distribution of images, sounds or other material that may be considered obscene, malicious, harassing, racist or illegal. Patrons are expected to use common sense and decency when viewing content on the Internet.
-
Use of inappropriate language, loud and boisterous behaviour and failure to co-operate with staff and/or volunteers.
-
Engagement in any form of vandalism or harassment while on the Internet.
Penalties for Improper Use:
Any patron violating any CAP site rules or procedures and/or any applicable provincial or federal laws is subject to loss of access privileges to all CAP sites within the District of Muskoka area. MCC will participate in any investigations conducted by the police in regards to improper conduct at a CAP Site facility.
For Patrons under the Age of 18
MCC strives to promote a safe and educational learning environment by filtering content that may be considered obscene, malicious, harassing, racist or illegal. However, it is relatively impossible for MCC staff and volunteers to restrict access to all controversial material while a minor is on the Internet. As such, as a parent or guardian allowing a child to use this site, I will not hold MCC responsible for material acquired on the Internet by my child. Further, I accept full responsibility for supervision for my child’s use of this CAP site and hereby give permission for my child to use the MCAP site to access the Internet.
